The Word of Hope

Introduction

Most  people  seem to be wondering about things happening around them. No one seem to have an answer.

• Hopelessness  and anxiety seem to be the order of the day
• Things which used to give them hope seem to be failing
• Financial and business plans not satisfactorily yielding intended results
• Investment plans
• Health care plans
• Retirement plans

The list goes on and on

People have this question, ” Is there any hope for tomorrow, is there any hope to this world?”

There is Hope in God, through His written word we can have a brighter tomorrow

God is  our Hope

Psalm 39:7 

⁷ “And now, Lord, what do I wait for?

My hope is in You.

Psalm 42:5 

⁵ Why are you cast down, O my soul?

And why are you disquieted within me?

Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him

For the help of His countenance.

God gives hope through His word

Psalm 119:74 

⁷⁴ Those who fear You will be glad when they see me,

Because I have hoped in Your word.

Psalm 119:114 

¹¹⁴ You are my hiding place and my shield;

I hope in Your word.

Psalm 119:147

I rise before the dawning of the morning,

And cry for help;

I hope in Your word.

Word of God gives hope in parental guidance

Psalm 119:9

How can a young man cleanse his way?

By taking heed according to Your word.

The word of God  give advice to young people

2 Timothy 3:14

But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, ¹⁵ and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

The word of God  equips you in making important decisions of life

Psalm 119: 11

Your word I have hidden in my heart,

That I might not sin against You

^2Tim3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, ¹⁷ that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Listen to the reproof of man  you will definitely loose hope

The word of  God lightens the path of life

Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp to my feet

And a light to my path.

The word of  God lightens the path of life

2 Peter 1:19 

And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; ²⁰ knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, ²¹ for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

The word of God rebukes

Hebrews 4:12 

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The Bible is inspired

As you read it you can see that the Bible is single unity

• there is no portion that you can throw away
• using a house as example
• The Old Testament will the foundation and the New Testament the finishing,  you cannot take away any part and still remain a single unit.
• just like a house you cannot sell  the foundation  only or roof only  if you are selling the house then then the house and everything goes

God Himself inspired those who wrote the Bible

• Its not human ideas
• It is the  only book that has stood the test of time.
• Books has come  and gone the Bible is still the best seller
• The Bible is still  the book of the times  in  its content

2. Talk about health principle is still  the leading book on how to stay health, health habits
3. Talk about social life it is the actually the manual that guides our social life
4. Talk about HISTORY no book can come any where near  capturing all history from day one of this earth’s history. book can match the Bible
5. Talk about planning strategically it is the book that informs successful strategies, full of great strategists

The word of God has Passed the test of time

• Written  over a period of 1500 years
• It is the oldest book but still the newest book
• Written by about 40 people from diverse backgrounds
• It is the right book for you and me
• It is the book for the wise

Let the word  of God direct you in your life

Matthew 7:21 24 

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: ²⁵ and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

²⁶ “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: ²⁷ and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
